Toronto’s TD Music Hall will host the 11th edition of Celebrations and Revelations on February 5, 2027, bringing together JUNO-recognized reggae artists Jah’Mila and Kairo McLean for a Black History Month concert celebrating cultural heritage, musical achievement and Black excellence in Canada.
Presented by Massey Hall and Culturepreneur, Black History in Concert will highlight the continuing influence of Black musicians on Canadian arts and culture. Tickets will go on sale Friday, October 23, 2026, at 10 a.m. ET.
Celebrations and Revelations Returns for Its 11th Edition
Established in 2015 by Culturepreneur Joy Bullen, Celebrations and Revelations is an annual concert series designed to recognize Black artistic achievement while encouraging broader public engagement with Black history and contemporary culture.
The 2027 edition will take place at TD Music Hall, located at 178 Victoria Street in downtown Toronto, with Bullen returning as producer.
Supported by TD, the initiative seeks to challenge stereotypes by introducing audiences across Canada to Black musicians whose work contributes to the country’s evolving cultural identity.
The partnership also reflects the role of corporate sponsorship in supporting arts programming that promotes representation, community participation and cultural recognition.
2027 Concert to Explore Cultural Continuity and Resilience
This year’s program will emphasize continuity, resilience and the preservation of cultural traditions across generations.
Organizers intend to connect ancestral heritage with contemporary expressions of Black identity, presenting history as an ongoing process shaped by artists, communities and cultural experiences.
The concert’s selection of performers reflects that approach, bringing together established musical innovation and emerging Canadian reggae talent.
Jah’Mila to Headline Black History Month Concert
Jamaican-born, Halifax-based singer-songwriter Jah’Mila will headline the February performance, bringing her roots-reggae sound and experience in orchestral collaborations to the Toronto stage.
A JUNO-nominated artist, Jah’Mila has developed a reputation for combining reggae traditions with classical orchestral arrangements, expanding the musical possibilities of both genres.
Her work has included collaborations with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the National Arts Centre Orchestra and Symphony Nova Scotia.
These performances have helped introduce reggae to audiences more traditionally associated with symphonic music, while creating opportunities for cultural exchange within Canada’s established performing arts institutions.
Reggae and Orchestral Collaborations Expand Musical Boundaries
Jah’Mila’s career illustrates how Caribbean musical traditions continue to influence Canada’s contemporary arts landscape.
Her approach combines the rhythmic foundations and cultural storytelling associated with roots reggae with orchestral instrumentation.
The resulting performances connect different musical communities and reflect the broader objectives of Celebrations and Revelations, particularly its focus on recognizing Black contributions to Canadian cultural development.
JUNO Award Winner Kairo McLean Joins the 2027 Lineup
Toronto-born reggae artist Kairo McLean will also perform at the concert, representing a younger generation of Canadian musicians drawing inspiration from Caribbean heritage.
The 18-year-old singer-songwriter, whose family roots extend to Jamaica and Trinidad, gained national recognition through his breakout single “Easy Now”.
The recording earned him the 2022 JUNO Award for Reggae Recording of the Year, making him the youngest JUNO Award winner in Canadian history.
McLean subsequently secured another JUNO Award in 2023 for “Reggae Party”, a collaboration with Kirk Diamond and Finn.
Young Canadian Reggae Artist Builds on Early Success
McLean’s music blends traditional Jamaican roots reggae with soul and contemporary influences.
His songwriting frequently addresses themes of unity, resilience, justice and hope, reflecting the social and cultural traditions associated with reggae music.
His appearance alongside Jah’Mila will offer audiences two perspectives on the genre’s development in Canada, highlighting both established artistic achievements and the emergence of new talent.
