Decimate Metalfest 2027 is entering its next planning phase as the deadline for performer applications arrives on October 15, 2026. The independent, all-ages heavy music and arts festival will return to the Millet Agriplex Arena in Millet, Alberta, on June 25 and 26, 2027.
The woman-led festival is inviting applications from Canadian and international musicians, youth performers and entertainers, while also seeking business partnerships to support its continued development.
Decimate Metalfest Expands Its Reach Beyond Alberta
The festival’s growing profile was reflected in applications for its 2026 edition, which attracted performers from 15 countries, eight Canadian provinces and 25 U.S. states.
Founded by Sloan Voxx, Decimate Metalfest has developed into a community-oriented event combining established touring acts, emerging musicians and independent artists.
“What started here in Alberta is reaching people thousands of kilometres away, and that’s pretty incredible to see! Every year we get to welcome back familiar faces while meeting people experiencing Decimate for the first time. Artists, attendees, volunteers, vendors, families, and crew all come together for the weekend. We watch people support each other, make new connections and friendships, share some ridiculous moments, and create memories that continue long after Decimate is over. We’re obviously here because we love heavy music, but Decimate has always been about family and community. Seeing familiar faces come back year after year, welcoming new ones into the family, and watching this community continue to grow is what makes all the work behind Decimate worth it. You can see the photos, watch the videos, and hear the stories, but there’s something about actually being there that you can’t really explain. You have to experience it for yourself,” says Voxx.
Festival Welcomes Heavy Music Acts and Emerging Performers
Applications are open to performers working across metal, rock, punk, hardcore and alternative music. The festival also welcomes solo musicians, DJs, dancers, drag performers, comedians, magicians and other entertainers.
Youth Participation Remains a Festival Priority
Organizers are particularly encouraging younger performers to apply, providing opportunities to appear alongside experienced musicians and touring artists.
“Some of my favourite moments are watching younger performers step onto that stage and absolutely own it,” says Voxx. “They get to share the same stage and be part of the same festival community as artists who have been doing this for years. You can see the nerves, the excitement, and then that moment where it clicks and they’re just up there doing what they love. There’s something pretty incredible about getting to witness that. They’re part of Decimate, just like everyone else,” adds Voxx.
The festival receives hundreds of applications annually. Organizers say applicants should explain their artistic identity, performance experience and reasons for wanting to participate.
Music recordings and live performance videos are strongly encouraged to help reviewers evaluate applicants’ sound and stage presence.
Application Deadline and Festival Details
Performer submissions opened September 15 and close October 15, 2026. Applications must be submitted through the festival’s official online form, with submissions through other channels excluded from consideration.
The organizing team will review applications following the deadline.
The festival is scheduled for June 25–26, 2027, at the Millet Agriplex Arena in Millet, Alberta.
Business Sponsorships Support Independent Festival Development
Alongside performer recruitment, Decimate Metalfest is seeking sponsorships and partnerships with businesses, community organizations and other supporters.
Such collaborations are intended to support programming, youth participation and the overall festival experience.
Existing supporters include the Town of Millet, Millet Agriplex, Alberta Music, Leduc Brewing and several independent media and production organizations.
Decimate Metalfest is also a member of the Western Canadian Metal Festival Alliance, connecting it with other independent heavy music events across the region.
“Decimate has grown, but I never want to lose sight of what made it special in the first place. We can grow the stage, the lineup and the crowd, but that heart has to stay. That’s Decimate, and that’s what we’re building again for 2027,” says Voxx.
With applications closing, organizers will turn their attention to reviewing performers, developing the lineup and securing partnerships ahead of next summer’s event.
