San Diego modern metal band Cascade Effect has signed an exclusive worldwide recording deal with Eclipse Records, marking a significant step for the five-piece group as it prepares to release its new full-length album, The Weight of Nothingness, in early 2027.
The band, which won the Wacken Metal Battle USA in 2024, has built its sound around a combination of deathcore, groove metal, melodic death metal, progressive elements and nu metal. Its new 13-track record is scheduled for worldwide release through Eclipse Records on January 8, 2027.
Eclipse Records Deal Marks New Chapter for Cascade Effect
The agreement gives Cascade Effect a global label partnership as the group looks to expand its audience beyond the club circuit and capitalize on momentum built through live performances and its Wacken Metal Battle USA victory.
“We’re absolutely stoked to be signing with Eclipse” says vocalist Dustin Keimig, “I have been in bands for a really long time, and I have seen Eclipse Records’ name around the Metal scene all throughout my musical career. I’m very proud to take Cascade Effect to the next level with a label that has such great history and experience.”
Guitarist Alec Peterson described the agreement as a major milestone after years spent developing the band independently.
“Signing with Eclipse feels like a huge turning point for Cascade Effect. We’ve spent years grinding in clubs, hauling gear, and building this band from the ground up, so joining a label that genuinely believes in our vision is incredibly exciting. What really stood out to us about Eclipse was how much they make artists feel like part of a team instead of just another name on a roster. Once our conversations started, it immediately felt less like a business deal and more like joining a family of people who genuinely love heavy music as much as we do!”
‘The Weight of Nothingness’ Set for January 2027 Release
The upcoming album represents Cascade Effect’s full-length arrival under its new label partnership. Across 13 tracks, The Weight of Nothingness examines themes including mortality, fear, regret, isolation and the search for meaning.
Album Explores Technology, Isolation and Existential Themes
Among the album’s key songs is “Rogue Wave,” which addresses the fleeting nature of time while using the rise of artificial intelligence as a metaphor for a digital force potentially overwhelming genuine human connection.
“My Devil’s Hour” turns toward isolation and intrusive thoughts during the late-night hours, while the title track focuses on existential questions surrounding mortality and existence.
Musically, the record combines low-tuned grooves and aggressive vocals with melodic hooks and progressive atmospheres. The band’s approach has drawn comparisons with established heavy acts including Slipknot, Gojira, Lamb of God, Parkway Drive, Machine Head and Killswitch Engage.
Production was handled by Matthew Denis, whose previous credits include Nothing More, Greywind and Diamante. Denis engineered and mixed the album at Skylit Sound and Total Access. Miro Kiiski, whose credits include Hypocrisy, PAIN and Beast in Black, handled mastering at Miro Mastering. Keimig created the album’s cover artwork.
Cascade Effect Builds on San Diego Heavy Music Roots
Cascade Effect consists of Dustin Keimig on vocals, Seth Roscamp on drums, Bobby Fernandez on bass, Shaun Frude on guitar and Alec Peterson on guitar. The band’s name reflects the idea that one event can trigger a chain reaction that grows progressively larger and more powerful.
Its combination of aggressive and melodic styles places the group within a contemporary metal landscape where genre boundaries increasingly overlap, particularly between metalcore, deathcore, groove metal and progressive heavy music.
