Peterborough Musicfest is preparing for one of its most energetic performances of the summer as Canadian brass-funk band My Son The Hurricane makes its debut at the festival on Saturday, July 25. The free outdoor concert at Del Crary Park is expected to showcase the band’s signature blend of funk, soul, jazz, hip-hop, and rock, offering audiences a lively live music experience.
My Son The Hurricane to Make Peterborough Musicfest Debut
The Niagara, Ontario-based group has earned recognition across Canada for its high-energy performances and festival appearances. Featuring a 12-member lineup, My Son The Hurricane combines multiple horn players, drummers, percussionists, guitar, keyboards, and a charismatic lead performer to create an energetic stage production that encourages audience participation.
Festival organizers say the performance reflects Musicfest’s ongoing commitment to introducing audiences to standout Canadian artists while maintaining its reputation as one of the country’s premier free summer concert series.

Based in Ontario’s Niagara region, My Son The Hurricane has become a popular act at music festivals throughout Canada while also performing in the United States, Mexico, and several European countries.
The band’s growing popularity continued in 2025, when it sold out 45 performances. Its reach also expanded significantly after a live performance video attracted more than 30 million online views, introducing the group’s energetic stage presence to a broader international audience.
Known for seamlessly blending multiple musical styles, the ensemble delivers a concert experience built around powerful brass arrangements, driving percussion, and dance-oriented rhythms.

The evening’s entertainment begins at 6:30 p.m. with the Future Sound Series, presented by Cogeco, featuring local emerging artist Alycia Hebert. My Son The Hurricane is scheduled to take the Fred Anderson Stage at 8:00 p.m.
