Temporary Detours and Stop Closures Affect East Flat Route and Core Express Service
Residents using public transit in Prince Albert are being advised of several temporary route changes and service disruptions as road construction projects continue across the city.
According to the latest transit update issued May 26, 2026, the East Flat route has been temporarily redirected onto 4 Street East due to ongoing construction activity. As part of the detour, several bus stops located along 15 Avenue East and 1 Street East have been closed for the day.
Temporary Transit Stop Established
To help accommodate affected passengers, transit officials have established a temporary bus stop at the intersection of 4 Street East and 14 Avenue East. Riders who normally use the impacted stops are being encouraged to use the temporary location while the detour remains in effect.
City officials said the route adjustment is necessary to ensure safe traffic movement through the construction zone while maintaining transit access for commuters travelling through the east side of the city.
Lane Reductions on 6 Avenue East Expected for Two Weeks
A separate construction project has also begun on 6 Avenue East, where both northbound and southbound traffic has been reduced to a single lane. The work is expected to continue for approximately two weeks.
As a result, multiple transit stops between 22 Street East and 28 Street East will remain closed until construction activities are completed.
Transit Users Advised to Plan Ahead
Officials are urging passengers to allow additional travel time and monitor route updates regularly during the construction period. Commuters who rely on the affected stops may need to walk to nearby operating locations or adjust travel schedules temporarily.
The City noted that revised routing and stop closures may continue to evolve depending on construction progress and traffic conditions.
Core Express Service Suspended for the Day
In addition to the construction-related changes, transit authorities confirmed that the Core Express bus service is not operating on May 26.
All other Prince Albert transit routes, however, are continuing to operate according to their regular schedules.
The temporary suspension of the Core Express route was announced alongside the broader transit advisory, though no additional details regarding the service interruption were provided.
City Encourages Riders to Monitor Transit Updates
Transit officials said passengers should continue checking Prince Albert Transit communications channels for the latest route information and schedule adjustments.
“Please check Prince Albert Transit for up-to-date information on transit routes and schedules,” the advisory stated.
The City added that any additional revisions or changes to the current service schedule will be announced as soon as updated information becomes available.
“Any revisions to this schedule will be published as soon as we have that information. Until then, the above schedule will be in effect,” the notice said.
Construction Season Continues Across Prince Albert
Like many municipalities across Saskatchewan during the spring and summer construction season, Prince Albert continues to carry out infrastructure upgrades and roadway maintenance projects aimed at improving long-term transportation conditions.
Temporary traffic disruptions and transit detours are common during this period as crews complete repairs and roadway improvements across key corridors in the city.
Municipal officials are asking residents and commuters to remain patient while construction work proceeds and to observe posted traffic and transit signage in affected areas.
