Prime Video has released the official trailer and key art for 56 Days, an eight-episode thriller series adapted from Catherine Ryan Howard’s best-selling novel, as the streamer continues to expand its slate of high-profile scripted originals heading into early 2026.
The series, produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Atomic Monster, will premiere Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026, with all episodes launching at once. Prime Video said the show will be available exclusively on the platform in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide, underscoring the global distribution scale that streaming services increasingly leverage to maximize audience reach and return on premium scripted investments.
Marketed as an “erotic thriller,” 56 Days blends a murder investigation with a relationship-driven psychological storyline. The show follows two young adults whose fast-moving romance takes a violent turn, leaving investigators — and viewers — to unravel what happened behind closed doors.
“We got to be great friends with author Catherine Ryan Howard whose book gave us a sexy, emotional, thrill-ride of a show where everything pays off in the end,” said Creators and Executive Producers Lisa Zwerling and Karyn Usher.
The series centres on Oliver and Ciara, who meet unexpectedly in a supermarket and quickly fall into an intense relationship. The title refers to the timeline between their first encounter and the moment police arrive at Oliver’s apartment to find an unidentified body.
According to the series description, homicide investigators discover a victim who has been “brutally murdered and intentionally decomposed,” triggering a central question that drives the plot: Did Oliver kill Ciara, or did Ciara kill Oliver? The narrative unfolds by intercutting between the present-day investigation and earlier events in the relationship, building suspense through a dual-timeline structure that reveals key details gradually.
Prime Video’s release of the trailer signals a major marketing push for the project, which features a cast led by Dove Cameron and Avan Jogia. Cameron stars as Ciara Wyse, while Jogia plays Oliver Kennedy. The supporting cast includes Karla Souza as Lee Reardon and Dorian Missick as Karl Connolly.
The project is the latest scripted series to come from Atomic Monster, the production company founded by filmmaker James Wan, which has built a strong commercial track record across the horror and thriller genres. Wan is among the executive producers, alongside Michael Clear and Rob Hackett, with Danielle Bozzone overseeing the series on behalf of Atomic Monster.
The show is written and executive produced by Zwerling and Usher. Sandrine Gros d’Aillon also serves as executive producer, while author Catherine Ryan Howard is credited as a co-executive producer, reflecting the common practice of involving original creators in screen adaptations to preserve tone, narrative intent and fan expectations.
For Prime Video, 56 Days represents another effort to compete in the crowded streaming market by pairing a recognizable book property with an international distribution strategy and a cast with strong fan followings. Adaptations remain a core business approach across major streaming platforms, offering built-in audience awareness and a proven narrative foundation at a time when customer acquisition and retention are increasingly tied to standout original content.
The release model — dropping all eight episodes at once — also aligns with binge-viewing strategies that can help drive rapid audience engagement, social media conversation and short-term subscriber activity around premiere windows. While weekly episode releases have gained traction for some streaming originals, full-season drops remain a popular approach for thriller series, where cliffhangers and fast pacing can encourage immediate viewing.
Prime Video has indicated that reviews for the series will be under embargo until Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 9:00 a.m. PT / 12:00 p.m. ET, one day ahead of the show’s debut. Review embargoes are standard across the industry, particularly for major launches, as studios and platforms aim to coordinate press coverage and maintain marketing momentum close to release.
The show’s promotional tagline — “Love. Lies. Murder.” — points to the core mix of relationship drama and criminal mystery. With its focus on a rapidly escalating romance, psychological tension and a high-stakes homicide investigation, 56 Days is positioned to appeal to viewers looking for suspense-driven storytelling with adult themes.
Prime Video has not disclosed viewership targets or performance expectations for the series. However, the combination of a best-selling source novel, established production backing and a global rollout suggests the streamer is treating the project as a significant addition to its early-2026 content pipeline.
56 Days premieres Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026, exclusively on Prime Video.
