Travelling exhibit on empathy and discrimination makes first stop in Edmonton

A portable, digital exhibit aimed at helping Albertans empathize with experiencing discrimination is making its first stop of a year-long tour at REACH Edmonton’s 2019 AGM.

Thirty-six years ago, Apollo's Western Cup was formed as a non-profit organization with the goal to create a sports festival for the LGBTQ community in western Canada. The event in 2018 saw over 1,000 attendees and athletes from across North America walk through the doors of the luxurious Hyatt Regency hotel in the heart of downtown Calgary.

Streets Alive Mission is very excited about the 'Coldest Night of the Year' Walk this Saturday. The contact for the day is Marie McLennan, she will be at the registration table from 4pm and is available for comment. The schedule for Saturday at the E-Free Church is as follows:

  • 4 pm - Registration opens
  • 5 pm - Opening Ceremonies
  • 5:15 pm - Walk begins (all distances, great outdoor photo opp!)
  • 6 pm - Registration closes & meal service begins
  • 8 pm - Route closes, meal service ends
