A Canadian Thanksgiving

WireService.ca Press Release - Calgary, Alberta - A group of humanitarian business people used their brilliance to gather and serve a Thanksgiving meal to more than 1,500 Homeless People in Calgary for Thanksgiving. The group , Humanity Unites Brilliance also known as HUB gathered $3,333.54 worth of food in less than 3 days with $300 raised in private cash donations. Everything else was raised through appeals to local grocery stores.

The generosity of The Real Canadian Superstores, Sobeys, Safeway, Costco and Co-Op allowed 1,500 people to have a Thanksgiving meal of Turkey, Mashed Potatoes, Mixed Vegetables and Cranberry Sauce followed by Pumpkin Pie with Whipped Cream.

Public Concert for earthqake victims - May 31 - Nathan Phillips Square, Toronto

Northern BC Town Tradition Continues Despite Setback (Fort Nelson, BC)

The Fort Nelson Emergency Services Christmas Dinner Society is pleased to announce that the 16th annual Community Dinner will take place on December 24th 2007 at the Elks Hall at 5431 50th Avenue South.

After the collapse of the Fort Nelson Recreation Centre Ice Arena during the spring of 2006, the future of the long standing community dinner was in question. Each year on Christmas Eve, members of the various community emergency services and community volunteers serve a full course Christmas Dinner to the residents of Fort Nelson. The event has evolved over the years from a small dinner to a full scale community celebration serving almost 5,000 turkey dinners. For those residents unable to attend due to illness or work, volunteers deliver meals to the long term care facility, the hospital, and local businesses.
