For Immediate Release:  November 23, 2010

From interviewing such musicians as Drake, Adam Lambert, Sarah McLachlan, Michael Franti, Bryan Adams and Taylor Swift about their chosen charities to fashion designer Izzy Camilleri’s line of clothing for women in wheel chairs and NHL player Andrew Ferrence’s environmental challenge,  Samaritanmag.com mixes stories about people in the public eye with those quietly making a difference. The aim of Samaritanmag.com is to provide others with the information, incentive and impetus to do the same. Let it inspire you this holiday season.  http://samaritanmag.com

Samaritanmag is the creation of Toronto's Karen Bliss, a woman with a fantastic job as a music journalist who wanted to give back through her connections, skills and efforts. This online magazine draws attention to the good deeds and efforts of individuals, charities and businesses with all the content being originally written for Samaritanmag, and not taken from any other news site. Browse through the articles and we can assure that you'll find someone amazing.

“Two people who really changed my motivation and outlook on life about 10 years ago are artist manager Sol Guy and rapper red1 from the hip hop group Rascalz,” Bliss explains. “I remember when they both told me about their first trip with War Child Canada to Sierre Leone. That was the first time I had ever heard about blood diamonds and how rebel soldiers killed and maimed civilians, including women, babies and children. Some of these atrocities were committed by child soldiers.”

“I know their trip changed their lives forever,” says Bliss “and they have each gone on to do meaningful, purposeful work, but little did they know how the retelling of what they saw and heard from talking with the people there would change others when they returned, including me.”

Sick of all the tabloid news out there, Bliss started Samaritanmag.com with the changing fun and flippant cover taglines like “We Care…but we don’t care if Bieber shaves his head” or “We Care…but we don’t if Perry and Brand got married."  Samaritans know there are more important things going on in the world — poverty, education, global warming, HIV/AIDS, cancer, childhood obesity, war… and some lesser-known causes we never knew existed.

Samaritanmag.com aims to cover diverse social issues from the state of the environment to humanitarian efforts and from charitable organizations to options for social betterment. From issues in developing countries to our own backyard, from major profiles and investigative pieces to product recommendations and services, Samaritan will be the place to find it.

Bliss also just wrote and created an anti-racism PSA, The Girl with Pinhead Parents, with Farley Flex and voiced by Nelly Furtado, Chris Bosh, LIGHTS, Jully Black, Skye Sweetnam, and Hedley's Jacob Hoggard, which can be seen by clicking through from Samaritanmag.

Karen Bliss is available for interviews to discuss the many inspiring things people are doing to make a difference in the world.
