Andrew Weaver, leader of the B.C. Green Party, issued the following statement regarding the flooding and mudslides in the B.C. interior: Media Release (05/06/2017) Victoria, BC - "As rain storms continue to wreak havoc on areas of the interior with flooding and mudslides, my thoughts continue to be with all those affected. I am deeply concerned for the safety of British Columbians in these areas. I urge everyone to respect evacuation orders and alerts, and to please follow the directions of local officials.

"My thoughts are especially with the family and friends of those who are currently missing. A senior is unaccounted for after a mudslide swept his home away east of Salmon Arm, and Fire Chief Clayton Cassidy of Cache Creek is still missing. He was last heard from yesterday morning.

"Finally, thank you to the numerous volunteers who have stepped up to help their neighbours at emergency centres and out in the field."

The Thompson-Nicola region (TNRD) emergency operations centre will be coordinating rescues and supplying sandbags for residents hit by various creek floods near Kamloops B.C. and other communities in the area. For information, call 1-866-377-7188.

Emergency Operations Centres are also activated in the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen. For the latest information, please visit
