WireService.ca Press Release (09/02/2014) - FACED Professional Makeup and Artistry - specializing in vegan, organic, and non-toxic skincare and makeup - was recently awarded a grant from the Awesome Foundation for an Awesome Idea. The proposal was inspired by the Women's Centre of York Regions new fundraising project "In her Words". On Saturday, September 27, 2014, (from 9:30 to 4:30), the WCYR will be hosting three other women's agencies from York Region (Rose of Sharon, Girls Inc., and The Life Centre), all of whom have women who will benefit from Certified Makeup Artist Danielle Schleese's inspired award. A total of 12 women from these different agencies will be offered a new look to go with their new 'outlooks' in life - a next step in their courageous decisions to make changes in their lives. They will be given a free 'makeover' day with hair, makeup and a photo shoot for each of them so they can look as beautiful and strong on the outside, as they feel on the inside.

Working with FACED's professional makeup artists will be local hairstylists from Artist's Salon and Spa (near Nature's Emporium) Owner Maria is generously offering each of the women participating a gift certificate for a free haircut after this event as well!

The day's activities will be captured by the expertise of photographers Danielle Koran of Improvance Inc., and Gary Collier of Collier Photo. Danielle Koran is also involved with the annual Help Portrait Day, which this year is scheduled for December 6, at New Hope Methodist Church on Queen Street, Newmarket. (Help Portrait Day is an exciting collaboration of photographers, hairstylists, makeup artists, and other volunteers that come together to provide the unique experience of a professional photo shoot for the less fortunate in the community).

Each of the four associations involved is excited for this opportunity for 3 of their very special ladies. Although each has a distinct strategy for assisting, there is a commonality in their mission statements.

WCYR: Through our programs, women affected by significant financial issues or who are victims of abuse, gain the skills and knowledge to grow, thrive and create sustainable living.

Girls Inc: Empowering girls to reach their full potential through gender specific programming that inspires all girls to be strong, smart, and bold.

Rose of Sharon: Dedicated to providing counselling, education, and parenting resources to prenatal and parenting young mothers and their families throughout York Region supporting their social, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

The Life Centre: Transforming Lives from Beginning to End!

Bottom line is - Women working together are a strong force to be reckoned with. Sometimes we all could use a little help!
